Goals:
To achieve this, students will write and publish an in-depth news or feature story (minimum of 700 words) accompanied by photographs, and when appropriate, polls, infographics, audio, or video, and links to appropriate content online.
When finished, you will have:
During the final exam period for each class, juniors and seniors will complete a series of reflection question on their story.

- To allow juniors and seniors to participate in long-form journalism.
- To allow juniors and seniors to participate in the creation of a general interest online magazine.
To achieve this, students will write and publish an in-depth news or feature story (minimum of 700 words) accompanied by photographs, and when appropriate, polls, infographics, audio, or video, and links to appropriate content online.
When finished, you will have:
- A published news or feature story accompanied by photos and other elements as appropriate.
- Class credit: a series of grades that count during the first and second 9-weeks periods.
- Final exam credit: Published story accompanied by photos and possibly other items.
- Reflection questions completed after publication of the story.

Steps:
- Students choose topics important to them.
- Students present topics to teacher for approval.
- Students and teacher meet regularly to check on story's progress.
- Students conduct interviews with people who are important to the story.
- Students write, edit, and revise story to journalism publication quality, and will publish a story containing a minimum of 700 words by December 15.
- Students illustrate story with photos they take that are appropriate to the story.
- As appropriate, students create polls, infographics, audio production, and-or video production.
- With teacher's guidance, students will design and lay out pages to publish content.
- Grade will be awarded through a rubric that will be published by the teacher.
- Will count as part of the fall 2017 final exam.
